First recorded in the Doomsday book and receiving a Royal Charter in 1179, finally awarded the status of a city in 2002.
It is the administrative and commercial capital of Lancashire, and is the home of the fastest growing University in the country- The University of Central Lancashire which presently has in excess of 28000 students.
The city centre has a vibrant nightlife with many bars, restaurants, nightclubs, traditional pubs and theatres. By day there are few other towns or cities that can match Preston’s shopping and leisure facilities.
The city is well served for communication being adjacent to motorways
- M6 for destinations north and south
- M61 for Manchester
- M55 for Blackpool
- M65 for east Lancashire and Yorkshire
The Railway service is second to none as Preston is a Principal Station on the west coast mainline and also serves as a hub for Lancashire towns with regular services to Liverpool, Manchester and its Airport.
